Associate Minister Program

 

This program is presented on behalf of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Montana Synod. Applicants to the program must contact their Pastor and the Synod.

The program requires a bachelors degree or waiver from the Montana Synod. Twenty-one credits in theology over and above any courses taken in the bachelors program are required.

Diocesan Lay Ministry Program

 

 

UGF Theology and Religion in collaboration with the Diocese of Great Falls/Billings offers a program for certification of lay ministers with specialization in several specific areas. The program entails 30 credits of Theology and Ministry courses through the UGF Distance Learning system.

Participation in the program requires approval of the Diocesan Pastoral Office. Initial applications for the program are to be submitted to Sr. Eileen Hurley at the Diocesan Pastoral Office, 121 23rd Street South P.O.Box 1399, Great Falls MT 59403-1399.

*This plan has the same credit load as the Associate Degree in TRL. The sole difference is the inclusion in that program of one course in Western Christian History.

**Up to fifteen credits may be transferred into the program from other accredited institutions. To put it another way, fifteen credits must be taken at UGF. TRL-370 and TRL-496 must be taken at UGF -- no transfers allowed for these courses.

***This is the distance learning cycle. For course participants in the Great Falls area, the campus offerings of these courses may be a desirable alternative to the distance learning. Note, however, that the campus cycle for the courses may not correspond to the above.

These criteria apply to all course work as well as to overall evaluation of performance in a course. They evaluate neither the time nor the effort put into the course, but the relative quality of work and the skills which are demonstrated by it.

C shows developing summary and basic analytic skills, & demonstrates a rote grasp of the basic information conveyed by the reading, the lecture, the program, the course.

A & B show skills, initiative & risk-taking, which are not expected at the  C level. A & B require:
